The best thing I did this week as a divorce lawyer was to explain to a potential client how not to hire me. I interview a lot of people who are thinking about divorce and most of the stories are compelling. But from time to time, I hear a story where I think that the better course is for the client to address the problems in the marriage rather than the problems of divorce.
When your spouse says "I will do anything to stay married," you should at least be able to tell them what "anything" is.
So, I didn’t get a new client, a divorce is at least not happening now, but I did the right thing and hopefully no lawyer will have this client.
