The Story of How Law Students Become Lawyers

Law school makes law students. Law practice makes lawyers. Somewhere between the two is a law clerk. As a law clerk, you will continue to learn in the classroom, but it is tempered with real world experience. We put a great deal of effort in training our law clerks to become lawyers. They may become great lawyers and benefit our profession. They may even stay and be a part of our team for years or, possibly, for life. My office recently hired three law clerks. This series will give you a window into their development as law clerks and it will give them a record of their journey. Read and enjoy their trip. You never know, you may want to be a lawyer one day. If you are already a lawyer, you may teach law students to be lawyers. It is my hope that you will find some insight through their words.

Tell the court the truth because it will probably come out anyways and will destroy your lives about one thing and destroy the truth your telling about everything else... so, tell the truth. Mr. Rice informs you on how to prepare for trial. We don't know what the Judge is going to do until the Judge does it, and then sometimes we still do not know what the Judge is going to do. So, if you have your case tried, work with your lawyer, tell the truth, and realize the system isn't always perfect. Judges are trying to do what they think are right.
