He explains that there must be significant unforeseen circumstances such as a fifteen percent increase or decrease in the party's income in order for child support to be changed. Larry and Nick Rice Honored at Cecil C. Humphrey's School of Law Banquet for Alternative Spring Break Lecture








On Friday, March 11 The Cecil C. Humphrey's School of Law held the closing banquet for their Alternative Spring Break Program, sponsored by the law school and the Public Action Law Society (PALS). Mayor A.C. Wharton, Jr. attended as the honorary keynote speaker. Attorney Larry Rice and his son Attorney Nick Rice were honored for speaking to the students at the Alternative Spring Break program who came from around the country to help with the Community Legal Services. Larry and Nick lectured on divorce practice and procedures in Tennessee and the legal process of a divorce from the initial filing of the complaint to the Final Decree of Divorce.

Larry and Nick Rice Speak at Cecil C. Humphrey's School of Law Alternative Spring Break Program








On Monday, March 7, Attorney Larry Rice and his son Attorney Nick Rice spoke at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law for their Alternative Spring Break program, sponsored by the law school and the Public Action Law Society. Larry discussed the basics of divorce law and Nick spoke about the implementation of the law from filing the initial complaint to finishing the Final Decree of Divorce.

Students from Memphis and other Law Schools from around the country attended this Alternative Spring Break Program to help in the Community Legal Services for low-income families and the elderly. They turn to experts in various fields to teach them material within a one hour time frame that would usually take an entire semester to learn.

The students working with pro se divorces turned to Larry and Nick Rice for guidance on divorce and family law practices. Linda Black also spoke, lecturing on probate and estate issues.

Attorney Larry Rice defines legal separation and annulment. He explains that couples usually resort to legal separation because they are avoiding accepting the fact that the marriage is over and they need a divorce. However, under rare circumstances legal separation can be a good thing. Larry Rice also discusses annulments and describes them as alternatives to divorce when you find that the marriage was void from the beginning.
